London (UNN): England suffered a dismal 9-wickets defeat in the first Test match at Lord’s against the visiting Pakistan team.  However, in a recent update, the Surrey left-arm seamer Sam Curran has been added to the squad for the second Test match as a precautionary measure for the injured all-rounder Ben Stokes.  He suffered a tight left hamstring injury during fielding in a training session on Wednesday. The home team will be taking a final call on Stokes’ inclusion in the for the final Test match after a complete assessment of the injury on Thursday morning.  However, there is also a chance that the all-rounder could be included in the playing XI for the upcoming Test as a specialist batsman, as he did not bowl anytime after picking up the injury.  It will be a major disappointment for the English team, as Stokes was the pick of the bowlers for England in the first innings of the Lord’s Test match, where he picked up three wickets but failed to convert his start to a big score with the bat.  Curran will not be available for the charity game against the Windies Curran was recently also added to the World XI squad for the charity T20I match against the Windies at the Lord’s.  However, due to his maiden call-up to the national side for the Test match against Pakistan, it will not be possible for him to make it for the game scheduled later in the day today. The English pacer will be landing in Leeds and will be joining the team for the training sessions before the second Test match at Headingley starting from June 1, Friday.  Curran was superb during the ongoing domestic season, where he scalped 18 wickets in four matches at an impressive average of 19.55, which includes a match-winning 10-wicket haul against Yorkshire at the Oval, in his last outing for his County side.  He is also currently the leading wicket-taker for Surrey in the English County Championship.
