ANKARA (UNN): Turkey ended the emergency rule regime, which lasted almost two years. The emergency rule regime was introduced in the republic for the first time on July 20, 2016, immediately after the attempted coup dated on July 15. It was extended by the Turkish authorities seven times. While the country lived in a state of emergency, restrictions on holding rallies and some mass events were in force. The law enforcement agencies had broader rights necessary to maintain security. In general, measures to protect the country and citizens from various threats remained significantly increased.
